- There are 940 miles of County maintained roads, 348.8 miles of State and Federal maintained highways, and 548.29 miles of roadways inside cities of Jasper County.
- Jasper County was established on January 29, 1841.
- The first session of Jasper County Government took place on February 25, 1841 at the residence of George Hornback.
- Governor Thomas Reynolds appointed John P. Osborne as Jasper County’s first Sheriff, who served from 1841- 1846.
- Carthage was chosen as the county seat on March 28, 1842.
- Thirty six (36) different men have held the Office of Jasper County Sheriff.

Pictured from left are, Chief Deputy Paul Archer, Deputy George Bastain, and Deputy Omer Casey. In 1958, these three men made up the Sheriff’s Office day shift.
