Detention Center
The current Jasper County Detention Center was completed in 1993. It was constructed to house 165 inmates in six pods. The detention center houses inmates who are waiting to go to trial, those who have been convicted of a crime and sentenced to serve time at the detention center. It also holds inmates for other local jurisdictions as space is available. The detention center has housed up to 200+ inmates and for the past several years has had an average daily count of between 180 to200 inmates.
The Detention Center is staffed with a one captain, one lieutenant, four sergeants, 26 detention officers, one nurse and one medical tech.
Transportation Division
The Transportation Division is staffed by 1 Sergeant, 1 Corporal and 6 Deputies.
The Transportation Division is responsible for the transportation of inmates from the Jasper County Detention Center to the required courts in the cities of Carthage and Joplin. This division is overseen by a Sergeant, which also supervises the Warrants Division.
The Division provides transportation for prisoners to and from hospitals’, doctors’ appointments, mental institutions and the Missouri Department of Corrections.
All deputies assigned to Transportation are responsible for assuring extensive efforts are made to ensure each inmate is transported to their destination in a safe and timely manner.
This division currently operates a fleet of 4 vans, and 2 cars. Transportation averages a total of 120,000 miles per year.
Warrants Division
The Warrants Division is comprised of one Sergeant, one Corporal, twelve Warrants Officers and one Warrants Clerk. Each Warrants Officer is a certified M.U.L.E.S operator.

The Warrants Division receives and processes over 5,000 warrants per year, process and/or modifies around 7,200 ex-parte/protection orders and registers about 275 sex offenders each year.
