About The Sheriff's Office
Special Services
The Special Services Division was added to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in 2008 and is run by one Lieutenant. The division was formed to establish community oriented programs for the Sheriff’s Office.
Community Oriented Programs include the Volunteers In Partnership (V.I.P.) program which allows the citizens of Jasper County to come in and volunteer their time assisting the Sheriff’s Office. This is done by answering telephones, assisting secretarial staff, or providing courier services between offices.
Shop with a Deputy Program: This program was started in 2005 in conjunction with Jim Kidd and R&R Trucking. The program is funded through donations from the Jasper County citizens and allows the Sheriff’s Office the opportunity to take children throughout the county Shopping at Christmas. Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies volunteer their time to take children shopping at Walmart for Christmas presents for themselves and their families. Over the last three years the program has been a huge success and has provided over 200 children with a positive relationship with our officers.
The Special Services Division, commanded by Sgt. Craig Davis, is committed to reaching out to all segments of our community, from children to seniors. This division is responsible for programs that educate our citizens on how to be as safe as possible and avoid being a victim of a crime, as well as providing many outlets for the public to be involved with Law Enforcement and the community around them. This includes the Sheriff’s Citizen Academy which introduces Jasper County Citizens to the inner workings of the Sheriff’s Office on day to day and routine functions.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Fleet Services: In 2006 the Sheriff’s Office employed fleet technician Cory Manka to maintain and service the over 95 vehicles used throughout the Sheriff’s Office. The vehicles include patrol units, detectives units, staff vehicles and many special service vehicles such as the Office’s Command Post Truck, SWAT truck and newly donated SWAT armored van. In the past all vehicle services would be farmed out to local dealerships or repair shops. By adding fleet services to the Sheriff’s Office all maintenance and vehicle up fitting has is done in-house at a considerable savings.
